However, it lets me check the Gsync checkbox and it does say "Freesync Extended," in the monitor settings, so maybe it's OK? (In macOS it says "Extended Adaptive Sync").ĮDIT: Resolved both of these Windows issues by switching to Displayport. The Nvidia control panel says it isn't Gsync compatible, which isn't true. I'm not sure how to tell if Gsync is working. Updated my graphics drivers to no effect. I'm using the HDMI 2.1 cable from the box with a 3080, so I'm not sure what's happening here. This might be a dealbreaker if I can't fix it. Not sure what to try other than a new cable.? This happens both with a Thunderbolt 3 dock and directly connected to the computer. Last night everything was working fine, but this morning, trying to wake it up from sleep, or switching inputs, I have to unplug and replug the cable to get it to work. The DisplayPort connection is really finicky. I don't think my Radeon Pro 560 supports DSC. I'm limited to 60hz, even with a USB C to DisplayPort 1.4 cable. Considering putting electrical tape over the RGB. If I could change two things, it would be the removal of the fan and the RGB light. Turning off the vaguely named "SMART ENERGY SAVING" in General fixed the issue. Apparently the monitor has an ambient light sensor. I did experience an annoying issue where the brightness would change seemingly randomly. I can still tell that it's not as sharp as my work 5K Ultrafine, but I think I prefer the real estate. On macOS, I changed the scaling to "looks like 1440p" and it actually looks.good? The PPI is worse than my "looks like 1680x1050" MBP, but it looks just as good from my viewing distance. I see more detail than I did from my P2415Q too. Torment was buttery smooth at 144, Plague Tale was 100-110, but it was even more impressive as a 3D game. I've played Torment and A Plague Tale so far. Using a USB C to HDMI cable now with the MBP and it works fine. My DisplayPort cable turned out to coincidentally fail, so it wasn't the monitor's fault. Almost all of my issues below were due to my own equipment, or ignorance. This is my first high refresh rate monitor, and I'm still trying to figure some things out.Įdit 6/1: After a few days, I'm really enjoying this monitor. Received my 27GP950 really quickly yesterday.
